Where can you find the best views of Fayetteville and the surrounding Ozarks? From the air, of course! On Saturday, August 24th, Fayetteville residents and visitors alike will have a chance to see the city from above during the inaugural Soar NWA event at Drake Field Airport. Just a short drive away from our apartments near University of Arkansas, you can experience the city from a whole new vantage point while supporting a great cause!
The Soar NWA event schedule offers attendees various thrilling ways to get up high, including hot air balloon and helicopter rides. Tethered hot air balloon rides will be offered for individuals and groups of up to six people. Want even more action? Test your nerves with skydiving! If you've been waiting for the right time to check that item off of your bucket list, this just may be your chance. Skydiving will be offered for adventurous attendees throughout the day, but pre-registration is required.
For the more risk-averse, there are lots of ways to enjoy your day with both feet planted firmly on the ground. Beginning at 8 a.m., visitors can enjoy a pancake breakfast presented by the Arkansas Air & Military Museum. Daytime activities include a car show, live music entertainment, and a skydiving exhibition. You will want to stick around until dark to catch the hot air balloon glow, which promises to be a spectacularly beautiful ending to this aeronautics-themed day.
Whether you decide to jump out of an airplane or not, the knowledge that you are supporting your Fayetteville community will make your day at Drake Field that much more memorable The proceeds of this event benefit Open Avenues, a North West Arkansas organization that has been supporting individuals with disabilities since 1975. Open Avenues provides job training, transportation, and employment opportunities for people living with disabilities. Tickets are available online for only $10.
