Northwest Arkansas enjoys a spectacular foliage season from mid-October through early November with many vantage points in the area to take it all in. Whether it be from the top of a mountain or from one of the area's scenic overlooks, there are some great leaf peeping spots that can be enjoyed near our apartments in Fayetteville.
Devil's Den State Park
Just a thirty-minute drive to the south of Fayetteville, Devil's Den State Park feels a world away. Tucked away in Lee Creek Valley, this state park is known for its caverns and rock formations. With help from the Civilian Conservation Corps, Devil's Den State Park was equipped with an array of stone and wood buildings that expand on its accessibility and natural beauty. In the fall, visitors can enjoy a series of trails for both beginner and experienced hikers that showcase the beautiful colors of the season.
Whitaker Point Trail
Also known as Hawksbill Crag, Whitaker Point Trail can be found at the northern edge of the Ozark National Forest. This moderate level hiking trail covers just under three miles and rewards hikers with a jaw-dropping view from Hawksbill Crag. This jutting rock formation was named for its resemblance to the bill of a hawk and offers a breathtaking view of Whitaker Creek and the valley beyond.
Pig Trail Scenic Byway
For those looking to experience the foliage from the comforts of their vehicle, Pig Trail Scenic Byway is the perfect way to capture the sights of fall. Covering 19 miles, this curvy backroad travels through the Ozark National Forest between Fayetteville and Ozark. Travelers in the fall are not only treated to the stunning foliage, but they also get sweeping views of streams, rivers and mountain peaks.
