Odd & Interesting Things To Do in Fayetteville

Fayetteville is home to a variety of well known attractions. While we love checking out acclaimed restaurants and the top entertainment destinations, sometimes it' nice to veer off the beaten path.

When you're feeling adventurous, check out these odd and interesting things to do close to our apartments near University of Arkansas.

Snap a Selfie in Front of Two Oddly Gigantic Hogs

Fayetteville is known for a lot of things, but you would be hard pressed to find something more famous in this city than razorbacks! That being said, if you're looking for something unusual to do why not snap a selfie in front of two of the largest, and most famous, hog statues on Earth?! As of June 10, 2018 Fayetteville is home to the world's largest hog statue, affectionately named Hogeye. This 30 ft copper dancing hog weighs in at 3,500 pounds and is a must-see for all razorback lovers! Take a pic with Hogeye here

Obviously, there are numerous options for you to take razorback selfies around town- especially seeing as six new massive statues are being added to Reynolds Razorback Stadium. That said, if you had just one other choice I would recommend checking out the ten-ton hogs head while you still have the chance. Sculpted out of a limestone boulder and officially donated to the university in 1980, this statue has seen better days due to weathering.

Visit the Wizard's Chair at Terra Studios

Located only a short drive outside of downtown Fayetteville you'll find Terra Studios. Built in 1975 by Leo and Rita Ward, Terra Studios has always been an artist retreat that is free and open to the public. They currently offer all kinds of classes and programs for those who are artistically inclined. For those of you who might have artistic skills on par with a kindergartner (definitely talking about myself here) but still appreciate the abstract, there's something for you as well. The grounds of the retreat are a sight unlike anything you've seen. Literally every foot of the property has in some way been touched by art. Even the trash cans are designed to look like garbage devouring trolls! Toss in an insane amount of ferries, gnomes, goblins, trolls and you can easily allow yourself to be transported into a mystical world. If that isn't enough, a stroll through the famed Garden of Otis Zark culminates in the centerpiece of the collection, the Wizard's Chair, which is made of clay and magnificently lit colored glass. Go ahead and try to convince yourself that you don't want to see the Wizards Chair... Impossible! If you need to be further swayed check out some cool pics courtesy of Yelp.   Fayetteville is a wonderful city that is packed with culture, history and excitement. Located only minutes from the attractions listed above and much more, The Academy at Frisco is the premier luxury student community in Fayetteville. Contact us today to speak to one of our friendly and professional team members!
