Just four minutes from our student apartments in Fayetteville, AR is a vibrant destination that promotes the visual arts in northwest Arkansas.
We're talking about Art Ventures, and it features art education classes and fine art galleries that exhibit impressive works.
Represented artists include:
Carl Hart always knew she wanted to be an artist. She married her husband while in college, and went on to become a teacher and the founder of a nonprofit organization that helps people with disabilities. Carol retired in 2012 to pursue her love of art through painting. Putting a brush to canvas gives her incredible joy and a sense of purpose.
Little Rock native Cheryl Kellar is happiest when she's in her studio covered in paint. Her water media paintings are full of color and drama, whether abstract or figurative. She enjoys creating on traditional paper as well as non-traditional surfaces such as cradled board. Cheryl studied at the Arkansas Art Center Museum School for fifteen years, and her work adds a conversation piece to any home.
Nathan Duncan is a photographer who grew up in a family where painting and music were a way of life. He began drawing and sculpting at a young age and abandoned art for nearly two decades when he reached adulthood. Nathan returned to art through photography as it allows him to explore the world. His images generalize the hint of emotion and let observers draw their own conclusions.
The gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday. It also hosts fun events throughout the city including Art in the Garden and Portraiture on the Square.
