Fayetteville is a great place for those looking for things to do. It's also a great place to live and study! There are a number of restaurants, events, and museums around Fayetteville, Arkansas. Two of these museums are the Clinton House Museum and the Headquarters House.
The Clinton House Museum
The Clinton House Museum is a museum that has been established in the first home of Bill and Hillary Clinton. The museum sits on 930 W. Clinton Drive in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The humble home contains one bedroom and is 1,800 sq. feet.
Bill and Hillary Clinton lived in the home beginning in 1975, 17 years prior to him becoming President of the United States of America. The home was their marital home. A replica of Hillary Clinton's wedding dress is contained in the museum.
Exhibits include memorabilia from the early stages of Clinton's career. This includes both his run for the US House of Representatives and Arkansas Attorney General. Also included is a "First Ladies Garden". This is where 47 favorite flowers of the First Ladies of the United States are planted. The museum also contains a store.
Typical hours are between 10:00 am-5:00 pm every day except for Wednesday and Sunday. The museum is closed on Wednesdays and opens from 1:00-5:00 pm on Sundays.
The Headquarters House is another Fayetteville museum. It is the home that would go on to become the Headquarters of the first Arkansas US Cavalry. The house is located in the Washington-Willow neighborhood and sits at 118 E Dickson St. It is typically open between 1:00-4:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, during which group and individual tours are offered.
A number of events take place on the grounds. Upcoming events include the Battle of Fayetteville taking place on April 20th and Statehood Day taking place on June 9th. The Battle of Fayetteville event commemorates the Civil War battle of April 18, 1863. This battle actually occurred around the headquarters of the house!
